After Finland I made my way to Varese, a Northern Italian town on the Swiss border. It’s the home of FICEP, developers of CNC machinery and they have a close relationship with Tekla.
I met with Saku Jarvinen (Marketing Manager) who spent the day with me, giving me a brief of FICEP and what they do, who their business partners are and how they work in cooperation towards a common goal. We did a thorough factory tour and he explained the manufacturing processes of their machines and how they work with Winsteel and Tekla on the integration front.
I was also shown the “Ficep Academy of Techology” (http://www.ficepgroup.com/ficep-academy), a plant not yet complete, however the intention being a fully functioning processing plant complete with a link to a control centre which I can best describe as a very large Ipad! I was most impressed by this facility.
At the end of the day, Saku offered to take me to three other manufacturing plants for FICEP machines. It was interesting to see the mass production plants of parts and assembly sections of the machines.
